Warburton will soon see some street and river improvements thanks to successful discussions between Council, Melbourne Water and the community. The Warburton community played an active role in gathering ideas and helping prioritise how a $700,000 budget (including $192,000 from Melbourne Water) might best be spent in the town.

The project is in the design stage with construction to begin in February next year. Project will include;

Improved access to the river along Thomas Avenue and better storm water management and river bank erosion control
Shopping street upgrades including paving treatments, street furniture and line marking of parking bays
A better cyclist and pedestrian connection at Yarra Square between the rail trail, highway and river
